Hiking at Le Morne Brabant
Le Morne Brabant, situated in the south-west of Mauritius, is more than a mere mountain. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008, and a potent symbol of the island’s past, having served as a refuge for escaped slaves.
For nearly two decades, our Yanature team has been leading explorers from all corners of the globe up this captivating and remarkably preserved landmark. Le Morne Brabant is a thriving ecosystem, boasting numerous endemic species, among which is the rare Trochetia Boutoniana, the floral emblem of Mauritius.
The hike to the summit of Le Morne Brabant is a gratifying 3.5 – 4 hour journey, depending on the group’s speed. Some steep sections of the climb may require the use of hands for safe ascension, but the reward at the top is worth every effort.
On reaching the summit, you will be treated to magnificent panoramic views of the west and south-west lagoons and a distinct perspective of the island. Embark with us on a memorable 3.5 to 4-hour adventure on Le Morne Brabant!
